Just after the Chinese Revolution, Japanese invaders start to infiltrate Northeast China. Renowned leading man Alex Man Chi-leung is her cop boyfriend. The glorious Joey Wang Jo-yin, the beautiful star of A Chinese Ghost Story, plays the villain's first victim. It's all capped off by the surprise guest appearance of the majestic Shaw Studio perennial, Ti Lung, as the man brought in to make sure that justice is done. Lawyer Yip Wing-man (Dodo Cheng) and Senior Inspector Fong Wai (Alex Man Chi-leung) are a pair of steady lovers who often clash officially. Good-looking photographer Dick-man Tien (Wilson Lam Chun-yin) appears in Court for raping model Joey Ling (Joey Wang Jo-yin), but is acquitted through the artful defence of lawyer Yip. Knowing Tien is guilty, Fong sympathizes with Joey and rather despises his girlfriend for her lack of justice. Joey's sister Ling Shan-shan (Prudence Liew), a delinquent, has a chance meeting with Tien in a bar. Seized by a mad desire to avenge her sister, she puts LSD into his drink, but ends up being caught and raped by him as well. Tien appears in Court again and Wing-man acts as his defence counsel in spite of Fong's objections. Shan-shan's past misbehaviour coupled with Wing-man's crafty defence puts her in a rather unfavourable position. As the chance of testifying against Tien is getting slim, the Prosecutor seeks the help of his brother John Lung (Ti Lung) to take up the case. The case takes a dramatic twist, as the relationship of the two lovers is put to the test.

Three of Shaw Brothers' finest martial arts directors, who, between them, had made more than a hundred classics, united for this unique anthology film. Yueh Feng writes and directs a clever love-and-kung-fu triangle, Cheng Kang both writes and directs kung-fu courtesans battling brigands, and the "godfather of the kung-fu film," Chang Cheh, creates a cliff-hanging, swashbuckling mini-movie with maxi-action. It's three times the substance, style, skill, and stars in what truly stands as a motion picture event.

The lovely Michelle Mei Suet plays a spoiled girl Szu-szu who ignores her true love Yang Fan (Yuan Te) to go off in search of a swordsman Chin Ko (Chen Kuan-tai) she idolizes. The search sets off one great action scene after another, until she's threatened to be sold into slavery but Yang Fan arrives in the nick of time! This amusing and entertaining variation on the standard kung-fu film is definitely a winner.

The wandering swordsman Yu Hsieh Erh (David Chiang) has formidable sword skills and decides to help the poor by robbing from thieves and distributing the wealth. He meets a group of bandits who are planning to rob a convoy escorting some valuables. Yu is tricked by the bandits into participating in the robbery but then realizes his folly and returns to take revenge on them.

Acknowledged as one of the greatest Hong Kong musicals, this lavish movie starring Linda Lin, who won Best Actress for her performance, infuses its wispy plot with style and wit, and the results are pure pleasure.
